Country Style Foods - Workplace Design Concept

ParkLaine developed a coordinated workplace and hospitality design concept for Country Style Foods Limited at its Leeds facility on Pontefract Lane, creating a new Baking Centre of Excellence within the existing building.

The concept brings together customer engagement, product presentation, hospitality, office and operational support spaces in a single, brand-led environment. Warm timber, black-framed glazing, exposed brick, planting and carefully integrated lighting create a welcoming setting that reflects the craft of baking while supporting a modern working environment.

The Brief

Country Style Foods wanted to transform its Leeds premises into a Baking Centre of Excellence capable of showcasing its products, welcoming customers and supporting its teams. The brief called for a coordinated redesign of the existing building, including a stronger arrival experience, reception and breakout spaces, a customer lounge and hospitality suite, meeting rooms and boardroom, offices, product viewing areas, a sample product finishing and presentation suite, welfare and changing facilities, and improved storage.

Externally, the concept needed to give the building a more welcoming and recognisable arrival through a refreshed entrance, new glazing, lighting, signage, a glass canopy, ramp and steps, planting and outdoor seating. The project was planned as a phased programme, with external works and Area 1 followed by Areas 2 and 3.

The Solution

ParkLaine developed a full workplace concept that connects Country Style Foods’ customer, staff and product-focused functions through a clear and coherent spatial strategy. The proposed external works give the existing Leeds building a stronger identity, with a refreshed entrance, new glazing, lighting, signage, planting and landscaped outdoor seating areas.

Inside, the reception is designed as a confident first impression, centred on a curved branded counter and supported by oak joinery, illuminated display shelving, product imagery, black-framed glazing and a feature timber-slat ceiling. A warm palette of pale oak, exposed brick, black metalwork, soft grey upholstery and greenery continues through the customer lounge, hospitality suite, boardroom, meeting rooms and tea points, balancing professional hosting with informal collaboration.

The product viewing and hospitality spaces are arranged as flexible showcase environments, with a mix of meeting tables, bar seating, display features and integrated technology. At the heart of the concept is a dedicated sample product finishing and presentation suite, planned as a high-capacity, hygienic and highly visible environment. Glazed separation connects the suite to the surrounding workspace, while stainless-steel workbenches on castors, oak butchers-block tops, hygienic wall and ceiling finishes, and supporting kitchen cabinetry provide a practical setting for product preparation, presentation and review.

The wider plan brings together flexible offices, upgraded welfare and changing facilities, ambient and chilled storage, and new mezzanine offices to improve operational flow and future capacity. By coordinating the space planning, interior design, finishes, furniture, lighting, services, AV and external works, the concept gives Country Style Foods a clear, costed blueprint for a distinctive Baking Centre of Excellence in Leeds.
